Meet Sarah
My name is Sarah Voegeli, and I’m a Principal Product Designer at Honeycomb.io working on observability, making life better for engineers, and managing data at scale through human interaction design and AI. In my 15+ years designing and building software, I've worked at startups and later-stage companies, on B2B and B2C products, and across a wide range of industries including cloud infrastructure, developer productivity, security, aviation, eduation, automated testing, and OTT video streaming platforms.
For the past seven years, I've specialized in the monitoring and observability space where data models, engineering, and design are deeply intertwined. I'm passionate about collaborating closely with engineers to tackle challenges that haven't been solved or seen before, and I love designing everything from command line experiences and configuration files to data visualizations and user interfaces built for people who are managing complexity at scale.
I've loved designing experiences and developing software for as long as I can remember. Alongside art and design, I grew up with the Linux command line, BASIC, C++, learned assembly language in college, and worked as both a frontend and backend developer early on in my career. Designing technical products for engineers at the enterprise level combines my love of design, data, and people with my drive for finding new ways to transform data into easy-to-understand and actionable information.
Tools and technologies that I'm designing for and with:
- LLMs, AI, and ML: OpenAI, ChatGPT
- Design: Figma, FigJam, Sketch
- Signals: Logs, Metrics, Traces, Events, OpenTelemetry, data pipelines
- Orchestration: Kubernetes, YAML
- MacOS, Linux, Windows
